Suroy Suroy Sugbo enchanting Camotes
CEBU, Philippines - This is my fifth Suroy Suroy Sugbo, twice in south and mid west; this time, the island of Camotes. Camotes they say got its name from a root crop "camote" (sweet potato) which is abundant in the area, composed of four municipalities: Poro, San Francisco, Tudela, and Pilar. It was a two-day trip around the islands, visiting in the first day not just the beautiful white sandy beaches of San Francisco and Poro, but also their famous Bukilat cave in Tudela, an estimated 3 - 4 storey high cave with natural lighting and a natural pool with waters dripping from the stalactites. The next day is a trip going to the island of Pilar. It was a historical experience, as we visited some of its old houses which dated way back to the Spanish era.
Camotes captures not just my eyes but also my heart, with its natural and man-made wonders. Indeed, Camotes is a very enchanting place.
