Passionately Swiss at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - One of the trusted names in the upscale hotel management industry, Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts has arrived in Cebu!
Director of Business Development and Director of Operations Philippines Helmut Gaisberger and property owner Oikonomos International Resources Corporation Group Chairman Manuel Osmeña formally introduced the hotel to the press last April 5.
“We are delighted to have joined hands with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, a highly regarded international hotel management company. We look forward to a successful collaboration and to further position our resort as a preferred leisure destination within the Philippines and Asia,” Osmeña said.
He explained that Oikonomos chose Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts to manage the property, which was formerly managed by Hilton Hotels and Resorts, because the “hotel industry is getting more and more competitive” and that the “best hoteliers in the world are Swiss.”
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, which is considered as one of the industry leaders when it comes to food and beverage, has a total of 71 hotels in 21 countries. Mövenpick Resort & Spa Cebu is the 4th hotel in Asia and more are scheduled to open in the next three years.
Gaisberger said that the company is planning to open at least 10 hotels in Asia. “Asia is where we plan to develop fast.”
Originally known for being “pink,” Osmena said that they have hired an architectural colorist to determine the new colors of the property, which he described to be “elegant but fun and romantic but stylish.”
Oikonomos has approved a P100 million budget for major upgrades such as the renovation of the lobby, the pool area and the creation of more breakout function rooms.
Osmena said that renovations will be done in phases since the hotel is already in operation and the management does not want to disrupt their guests’ experience.
To give local and foreign tourists a taste of the Swiss hospitality that the hotel chain is known for, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Cebu is offering Mövenpick Welcome packages from April to May 30, 2011.
The Fun for Family package includes breakfast for two, 30 minutes pedal boat and kayak with fish feeding activity, 50 percent off on buffet meals for children aged 5-12, access to children’s play area and the games room and complimentary use of beach toys and snorkeling set.
The Romantic Escape package includes breakfast in bed, a romantic floral bath at the Indulgence Room at the Spa and sparkling wine upon arrival.
