The Delightful Sister Act 1 & 2
CEBU, Philippines - It was fun watching students delineate a spoof musical thriller called Sister Act 1 & 2, staged by the theater workshop scholars/alumni of USJR Amparito Lhuillier Foundation, Speechcom International, USJR Masscom Artists' Circle, Benedicto College and Adelante Dance Troupe. Alumna Anna Fegi had a cameo role and sang four songs. The show was the scholars' practicum output. They were divided into three groups where cast had two or three characters to perform. Every show was followed by a critiquing session which focused on professional and stage ethics and propriety.
The goals of the musicale were to entertain and enhance the values of cooperation, creativity and team building, as well as deepen the students’ theatric skills which the play interpreted in songs, choreography, well-paced plot, comiced dialogues and characterization, with the avant-garde bare stage props. Adapted on stage and directed by mentor Dr. Mila C. Espina and student tutors ( who crafted their own dialogues/music), Sister Act 1 & 2, delighted some 4000 students at USJR; 3000 at Sisters of Mary; 1000 at Benedicto College and some 500 benefactors at Casino Filipino-Teatro Casino, all for FREE. Some of the performers will perform at the Springville Worldfest in Utah, USA, along with 12 other countries from Asia and Europe.
