A Big "TSEK" for DOH and Campaigns Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Department of Health (DOH) launched a new campaign to encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies for the first six months and to educate them about the health benefits of breastfeeding.
The campaign, “Breastfeeding TSEK: Tama, Sapat at Ekslusibo!” was planned and spearheaded by Campaigns Cebu, the number one advertising agency in the Visayas-Mindanao area which has been in the industry for more than 16 years.
“Campaigns Cebu’s creative team wants to present the Breastfeeding TSEK campaign as a creed for exclusive breastfeeding in the Philippines. Based on the research conducted in the different parts of the Philippines, despite the known breastfeeding benefits, only one of every six infants are exclusively breastfed for first six months of life. An annual estimate of 16,000 child deaths in the Philippines could be prevented by exclusive breastfeeding for six months,” said Client Service Director of Campaigns Cebu, Ms. Vicki Pastoriza.
The Breastfeeding TSEK campaign was officially launched last February 23 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila with Ms. Gladys Reyes and Daphne Oseña-Paez hosting the event.
The Department of Health (DOH) hopes Philippines will move closer to attaining its Millenium Development Goals on child health with the introduction of the new breastfeeding campaign.
It also aims to revive the Milk Code (EO 51) or the National Code of Marketing of breastmilk substitutes, breastmilk supplements and related products that was signed into law by then President Corazon Aquino.
