Parklane to launch specialty restaurant

- Jen F. Vega -

CEBU, Philippines - Come May, Cebu Parklane International Hotel will swing its doors for foodies who simply want to indulge in authentic Cebuano cuisine with the launch of its specialty restaurant, Kan-anan (restaurant or diner).

"Parklane is the first hotel ever to launch a specialty restaurant in Cebu that's really a local restaurant," enthused General Manager Cenelyn Manguilimotan adding that Kan-anan is poised to be a significant landmark for both local and foreign gastronomes.

"This is inline with the direction that we're going right now which is to be recognized as a Cebuano hotel. The main thrust is to make Cebu and Parklane synonymous. When you think of Cebu, you'll think of Parklane, and when you think of Parklane, you'll think of Cebu," explained Manguilimotan. "This goes with our new tagline 'Parklane, the hotel in Cebu that stands for Cebu'," she added.

Kan-anan is in the fourth level, near the pool area and the gym. Although still under construction, Manguilimotan shared that it'll be an all-native diner that carries the "pungko-pungko" (street side dining) feel with its intricately designed benches.

"We're going to tie up with local municipalities and cities. Every month, we're going to showcase 10 municipalities in Cebu but all year round we have a standard menu that will be purely Cebuano." One possible dish to look out for isn’t too familiar to majority of the Cebuanos which is the fish dish from Bantayan called labtingaw. 100 percent Cebuano Chef Arman Polon and his team is prepping for this culinary journey that is set to showcase authentic local cuisine.

Target date for the launching is on May 15, which is the birthday of the hotel's president, the late Manuel Ting. This will be a tribute to him said Manguilimotan.

"If we want to push Cebu as a destination, this is the best place to start. Staying in our hotel will give you a glimpse of what Cebu is all about, experiencing 241 kilometers of Cebu, from north to south, in our 241 rooms. All our rooms will also be showcasing icons and landmarks of Cebu," she concluded. And Kan-anan is just one of the things they're cooking up this year.
