Welcoming the year of the metal rabbit

INTO THE SCENE - Han Kintanar -

One of the biggest events in the calendar of activities of the major hotels in the metro is the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Over at the Marco Polo Plaza, their annual Yee Sang Tossing Ceremony took place with Governor Gwen Garcia and Consul General of the Republic of China He Shijing along with other VIPs and media friends. In the Chinese tradition, 12 people are asked to gather around the Yee Sang fish salad, representing the 12 signs of the zodiac. Each of them toss the salad using the chopsticks and the higher the salad is tossed, the luckier the new year will be.

There was also the traditional Dotting of the Eye which followed after the lang sai or lion dance. And to drive away the negative energies, the fire crackers and fireworks definitely added the festive mood.

The same ceremonies happened at the Radisson Blu with the hotel's General Manager, the very amiable Grant Gaskin doing the honors in the eye-dotting ceremony.

It is believed that in Chinese tradition, the Year of the Metal Rabbit is a time to catch your breath and calm your nerves.A good time for negotiation and is believed that anyone making supplications for wishes to be fulfilled are certain to get what they want. But whatever it is, I believe that it is also in the person. We should also do our part to make those wishes come true. Kung Hei Fat Choi! God bless!
