City Sandcastles

CEBU, Philippines - Sanuk, a global footwear brand of ultra comfy cosmopolitan and or beach sandals and fit flops, held its first Sandcastle Building Competition in Cebu last November 27 at The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu. True to its contest tagline, “Bring the sand to the city,” a total of 315 sacks of silica sand (construction sand) were wheeled in to the venue to be magically transformed to sandcastles. Eight teams that consist of five members each vied for the coveted Best Sandcastle title. And after five grueling hours, Master of Puppets walked away with more than P20,000 worth of prizes after creatively sculpting a four square-meter sand sculpture that uniquely showcased Cebu and Sanuk, as well. The Sanuk Sandcastle Building Competition had been around three other major distribution channels, namely Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Metro Manila and was greatly participated by sand sculpture buffs. Cebu, as the last leg, did not disappoint the organizers. And this is how Cebuanos did it.
