CEBU, Philippines - Cathay Pacific Airways Cebu recently celebrated the launch of the airline’s latest destination, Russia’s capital city, Moscow!
The Tap Room was transformed into a Russian drinking hall for the night as Cathay’s Manager Cebu, Camilla Taylor took the helm at the celebration. She welcomed the night’s guests with the traditional Russian Khleb da’ Sol, a loaf of bread eaten with some salt, that is the Russian way of welcoming valued and respected guests.
Honorary Russian Consul for Cebu, Ms. Armi Lopez Garcia was the guest of honor that night. She spoke about strengthening economic and tourism ties between Cebu and Russia and entertained questions from the guests, a mix of Cathay Pacific’s loyal passengers - Marco Polo Club Gold and Diamond members, friends from the media, representatives from the Russian community in Cebu, and Ms Cebu 2010 and her court.
The evening’s celebration was done over cocktails, which included traditional Russian fare including gravlax blinis, prawn & caviar hors d’ouvres, and reindeer salami, among others. All this was washed down with Moscow Mules, Sputniks, and other vodka-based drinks, ensuring a lively evening of food, drink, and games. Lucky guests who won the Russian word games that night went home with custom made Cathay Pacific matroshka’s, the famous Russian nesting dolls.
Of course the vodka toast could not be skipped. This was led by Russian guest, Nikita Osharov of Pelagos Tours Cebu, who asked everyone to drink to closer and lasting friendships between Moscow and Cebu.
Naz Darov-Ye! Cheers!
