My Impression on "Cash in Trash" Drive

- Asher S. Umerez -

CEBU, Philippines - Hi! My name is Asher Christian S. Umerez. I will be eleven years old in October and I am now a Grade 5 pupil at the Child Learning Foundation, Inc. located in Happy Valley, V. Rama Avenue, Cebu City.

I started to get interested and involved in the “Cash in Trash” Drive of our school when my mom said that the winning class would get Jollibee snacks in school, since she was the president then of the Parents-Teachers Association for SY 2006-2007. She also posted weekly ranks, which really made me excited, because I really wanted the free Jollibee food items.

So, I started collecting trash and even asked my grandparents to help me. At the end of the school year, our class indeed got the Jollibee snack. I was supposed to get a 100-percent free tuition, but my mom shared 25 percent to the second placer. The PTA that year also gave out cash prizes to the other winners.

I never thought that you could make 50,000 pesos out of trash. To God Be the Glory!
