Experiencing Magic with Moon over Moet

- Queenie Sue M. Bajenting -

CEBU, Philippines - Beneath the skies of a breezy July evening, a beautiful blend of music, food and drink unfold for one event worthy celebration—the Cowrie Cove’s 6th year anniversary.

To dine underneath the stars was a perfect culmination of one strenuous week. It felt incredibly delightful to have to sit by the beach on a Saturday night, listen to soothing music, indulge in good conversation and savor a mouthwatering buffet of good food which would seamlessly be accompanied by a fine bottle of Moet. Well, this was exactly the treat I got from Cowrie Cove.

On the 31st of July, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, together with Moët, brought to food aficionados Moon Over Moet, the sixth year anniversary celebration of Cowrie Cove, organized by Joan Zanoria, Food and Beverage Promotions Manager. A resort classic, Cowrie Cove offers delicious al fresco seafood dining experience along the charming beachside. It has an adjacent ChillOut Bar which serves as a popular complement to this perennial dining favorite.

The restaurant’s reputation for serving only the finest seafood did not disappoint the patrons that night, including me, who was never into seafood that much. From salads to soups to main dishes to desserts, each course—as masterfully crafted by the team of Joris Rycken, Shangri-La Mactan Executive Chef—was a delectable feast of Asian-meet-Western cuisine. It was a bonus that we got to have our favorite raw seafood – like lobster, prawns, crab and scallop – grilled, steamed, wok-fried, oven-baked or poached, by request.

Complementing the scrumptious banquet was the delectable taste of Moet, itself. Richard Alarcon, Marketing Manager of Moet et Chandon, was there to celebrate, and Abdul Hafid, Director of Food and Beverage, thanked the partners in the earlier part of the event. Joachim Schutte, General Manager, also graced us with his presence and made sure everyone was enjoying the evening. A couple of toasts with Rica Rellon, Asst. Communications Manager, and Carla Comendador, Communications Executive, over just-about-anything-yet-insightful-discussions with Ms. Marlinda Angbetic-Tan made the Moet even more luscious to my taste.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the raffle draw that gave everyone a chance to take home a bottle of Moet et Chandon or a gift certificate from The Spa Chi Journey or an overnight stay at Shangri-La Mactan / EDSA / Boracay. This, peppered with the breathtaking performance of fire dancers and all-night irresistible mix and scratching by club DJ’s, was but a glimpse of the many more exciting surprises and treats that patrons can expect from the Cowrie Cove’s sixth year.

Lush with splendid dinner and magical ambience, Moon Over Moet was unmistakably a lovely evening that celebrated the long years of hard work, service, and excellence, marking another promising year.
