CEBU, Philippines - ejoice, rejoice, oh fans of gastronomic galore! Katzer, the newest French Mediterranean dining restaurant in the country, opens today as it welcomes an excited crowd ready to take on what this new food haven has to offer.
Named after its most celebrated chef, Andreas Katzer, this hub of French Mediterranean cuisine would surely appeal to the fine-dining crowd and with Chef Andreas at the helm of Katzer’s kitchen, expect him to dazzle people once again with his own brand of culinary wizardry. The once chef and part owner of popular gastronomic haven Le Soufflé also assures that Katzer will serve not just excellent food but also impeccable service that he hopes will be the hallmark in the hospitality industry.
Together with a group of young entrepreneurs, Chef Andreas says that Katzer is a product of the group’s vision of providing a new dining alternative not just for the Ortigas crowd but also for those on constant lookout for top-quality food and those already familiar with Chef Andreas’ brand of cooking magic.
Located at the second floor of Wynsum Corporate Plaza along busy F. Ortigas Jr. Avenue in the Ortigas business district, Katzer has a separate bar, a function room for private events or meetings, plus a big dining area that can hold up to 150 guests, good enough for parties or corporate/formal events. Diners will also appreciate the clean, minimalist look of the place that also doubles as a mini art gallery.
The restaurant also has a full menu from starters to soups and salads, a wide selection of pasta, delightful meat and fish dishes, and grilled items. Guests will most certainly enjoy the substantial servings of Katzer’s dishes, a definite good news for those with a slightly bigger appetite.
Amazing appetizers found at Katzer include racklette cheese baked in potato, homemade duck liver terrine, escargot in herbed garlic butter, beef carpaccio, gravlax with dill mustard dressing, and duck confit and shiitake in filo pastry, while the salads include Caesar salad done “The Classic Way” and Warm Mediterranean Salad.
For savoury soups, included in the menu is traditional French onion soup and light prawn bisque. Two specialty pasta dishes like Fettuccini and Shiitake in Blue Cream Cheese Sauce and Baked Penne with Sautéed Garlic and Eggplant are also on the menu. Highly-recommended fish dishes are the grilled Chilean sea bass; herb-crusted dory fillet with cheese on buttered linguini, lapu-lapu, prawns and scallops served Bouillabaisse style, and stir-fried prawns in spicy coconut sauce to satisfy your seafood cravings.
Those who favour delectable meat dishes can choose from Katzer’s boneless and fatless pickled pork knuckles, roasted rack of lamb Provençale, braised lamb shank, braised ox tongue in red wine, duck confit, and also black peppered steak. Steak lovers will not be disappointed as well since Katzer offers grill dishes like Black Angus tenderloin, Wagyu rib eye, strip loin and top blade, lamb chops, chicken breast, boneless chicken leg, and duck breast, plus a selection of fish and seafood items hot off the grill.
Katzer also has an exciting line-up of delightful desserts like crepes, sorbets, cheesecakes and soufflés, and the eponymous Coupe de Katzer, all great ways to cap a meal. Plus, a separate bar menu consisting of scrumptious snacks and pica-pica is always ready for those not really craving for anything heavy.
Despite the impressive line-up of mouth-watering food, Katzer and its owners profess that they are priced just right and with their big serving sizes, are total value-for-money offerings. As an extra service to clients, Chef Katzer can even accommodate orders not listed on the menu, which shows Chef Katzer’s versatility and the restaurant’s flexibility when it comes to client service.
