Slick and Sexy

CEBU, Philippines - George Clooney does have a certain effect on middle-aged women and he embodies a look that speaks nothing less than classic sexy, a little off than James Bond, although more likely to infuse a sense of giddy excitement among the females. Famous for his roles as an otherwise likeable scoundrel in movies like Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Oceans 11 and Oceans 12, George Clooney isn’t just one of the biz’s acting icons. On purpose or not, George Clooney is a fashion icon.

When I think of George Clooney, I think of the classics especially in terms of men’s cuts. The Slick Back, a cut popularized by Clooney, drives home the point that men’s dos have come a long, long way and have considerably made its way into the Age of the Gents. Although some men may find this too classic and too neat, an updated version of this look is one to make the ladies swoon.

Before grabbing your pomade and comb, knowing what kind of hair you have—straight or wavy—is about the most important thing to consider if you’re quite interested to score this classic look.

“Guys with straight hair: stick to a longer cut on top. Guys with wavy hair: go for short hair on top, perhaps a few inches in length depending on the strength of your wave. The two models below best demonstrate the different cut lengths for the two hair types. For both straight haired and wavy haired men: short on the sides,” said Daniel Dykes resident fashion consultant of Fashionising.com.

If you’re quite unsure of what kind of hair you have, it’s best to consult your stylist for that because when it comes to hair, it’s not as easy as pressing Ctrl+Z to right what’s wrong.

The slick back actually doesn’t take a lot of effort to style although it does take a few considerations like which part to slick back or whether or not to wear it with part. George Clooney wears it with one while some Moschino models don’t. Do a trial run before you actually step out into the sun with your slick back.

Take note: the mirror doesn’t lie. ?
