ILLUMINATED @ SHANGRI-LA

Guests came in their comfy white resort wear when Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa and A-List Events PR and Advertising headed by “power duo” Cybil Gayatin and Kaye Luym hosted Illuminated: An Earth Hour Celebration last March 27 from 8:30pm ‘til a little past midnight at Shangri-La’s Cowrie Cove.

It was an evening under the full moon by the beach, setting wishing lanterns, which the guests gamely purchased for the benefit of Olango Island’s Tingo Elementary School. In return, each one of the 120 guests got a specially made bracelet of recycled materials by no less than Butch Carungay of the internationally-renowned Avatar.

The lighted lanterns at the helipad added drama that night when most of the resort was dark during the Earth Hour, not to mention the lively drum beaters accompanied by the LED dancers. Everyone trooped to the Cowrie Cove after releasing the wishing lanterns to enjoy the beach house music of DJ Mael of The Penthouse and the overflowing Bacardi Apple cocktails.
