CEBU, Philippines - Ambiance. Service. Quality of the menu. A shared passion with every bite. What elements come together to form the Gold Standard of the dining experience? The total experience that sets a restaurant well above others in its class is what all discriminating diners seek—and what they come back for again and again.
Indeed, having a good meal at a restaurant goes beyond the primal act of ingesting food. Truly golden moments while dining out are rare—a gestalt that not only relieves hunger but restores us, body and soul, to what is best in ourselves; allowing us a chance to sit back and enjoy the good life in the fullest, most human sense.
That’s why fans of good food and the good life are looking forward to the second Nescafé Gold Spot Awards which honors the best dining places in Metro Manila. The Nescafé Gold Spot Awards is simultaneously a chance for foodies to honor their favorite dining places (and celebrate their good taste) as well as a chance for others to discover new places for pure dining pleasure.
Nescafé Gold is the gold standard in coffee. So it only follows that it spearheads such a prestigious awards program that recognizes the best dining places in the Metro.
This year’s awards include four brand-new categories—namely Best Buffet, Best Restaurant Chain, New Restaurant of the Year and Restaurant of the Year—promising an even more interesting competition.
The Restaurant of the Year Award is particularly coveted: potentially thousands of restaurants in the Metro competing for this plum prize. The award offers the winning restaurant the kind of prestige that makes it stand in a class all its own.
Last year’s awards categories are once again up for grabs, including Best Japanese restaurant; Best Chinese restaurant; Best Filipino restaurant; Best Italian restaurant; Best Steak House; Best Delicatessen; Best Dessert Place; Best Bar. and Best Service awards.
To vote for your choice, log on to www.spot.ph/goldspot and register.
The voting period for all Nescafé Gold Spot Award categories will run from October 1 to November 5, 2009 only. Afterwards, a Master List of Restaurants will be drawn from the votes cast.
The Nescafé Gold Spot Awards Panel of Judges (composed of respected food writers, industry insiders, and restaurant professionals) will then create a Short List of five restaurants per category, drawn from restaurants submitted and voted into the Master List by the SPOT.ph community.
Finally, the SPOT.ph community will once again cast their votes and select which among the short-listed restaurants meet the Gold Standard.
The 2nd Nescafé Gold Spot Awards promises to give a bigger and grander competition this year. So vote now—a victory for your favorite dining spot is a triumph of good taste and a delight for all foodies everywhere.
