The fourth bisaya picnic

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO -

Without fail, the Cebuano-speaking “Bisayas” had their annual and most-awaited Bisaya Picnic, which actually was a huge success. The event became a successful one due to the presence of the highly-spirited Cebuanos, the delicious food, the gift donations, and sponsorships. You know, this yearly affair is held to raise funds for the Dangpanan Project headed by Sis Marcia, the purpose of which is to uplift the quality of life of the street children of Banawa in Cebu City.

Head organizers of this annual gathering were the energetic trio of May Toling Mediano, Teresa Martinez Sepulveda and Stella Antigua Peyton. Our very own Jackee Gullas Weckman was also present since she happened to be in LA at that time. Jackee, by the way is a good friend of May Mediano – the brains behind this group.

Donors and sponsors during the affair were: Dindo/Josabel Porral and Berto Sepe for the lechon; gamemaster Tata Sy, Cris and Sherry Florido, Todd & Evelyn Castanares, Gemma Boiser Sy,Jackee Gullas Weckman, Inday Mahinay, Winnie Murillo, Pacita Imbong Kash & family, Melot Maderazo, Daisy & Paul Uytengsu, Tateng & Dinah Katindig, Carmen & Manolo Burgos, Claribel & Melvin Ybanez, Gerry & Fiza Du, Jojo & Fatima Echavez, Inday Cabrera, Pamela Chu, Neria Myers, Cecilia Suelto St. Mars, G. Tan, Trixie Lebumfacil and Augs & Joy Mayol. The organizing committee conveyed their great appreciation for “your thoughtful gesture and unstinted support” and cooperation. May your tribe increase!!!

As we celebrate Christmas this season, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. May the good Lord give us a year filled with His love, good health, prosperity and happiness!
