CEBU, Philippines - Once more, Ayala Center Cebu hosts the Kasalang Filipino bridal series. This is probably the fourth season that classy models from M.A.C.>Models Association of Cebu walked the foliage littered runway donning the variations of the bridal ensemble from Cebu’s recognizable designers from Cebu Fashion Designers Alliance (C.F.D.A.), Clothes for Life and Fashion Council Cebu (F.C.C.).
That day, the activity area of Ayala Center Cebu is the place to turn for special-occasion dressing, particularly if you are looking for a printed or embellished column wedding dress for a resort or garden wedding. Among the best looks from the collection are a pouf bustier dress with beribboned headpiece from Protacio, a strapless architectural knee length dress from Edwin Ao, an empire cut un-fussed column dress from Arcy Gayatin and a glitzy Swarovski tussled dress from Cary Santiago with matching platforms for the vertically challenged rock glam bride. Nostalgic were a 50s Grace Kelly-isque bouffant from Ren Manabat, multi-tiered from Wendell Quisido, draped and 20s inspired from Salvador Malto, Jun Escario and William Manahan. Adding theatrical flair were a high ruffled neck gown by Albert Arriba and a plumed trumpet gown from Felix Yu.
Philip Rodriguez, Oj Hofer and Protacio reign supreme at classic men’s suits that continues for the dapper groom upholding the long tradition of suit-makers. Ditto for its modernistic approach from Edwin Ao, William Manahan and Marichu Tan who seldom dabbles in menswear. Though those who presented menswear struck the right balance between the old and new. Bravissimo!
