Electrolux Holds Cebu's Biggest Laundry Charity Marathon

-

CEBU, Philippines - Electrolux, a Scandinavian company known for its innovative and thoughtful designs, held the biggest Laundry Charity Marathon in Ayala Center Cebu last Saturday, August 1st. The event was aptly titled “A Thousand Kilos for Heavy Loads & Lighter Hearts,” since it involved donations of used clothing from Cebu celebrities, media personalities and local residents.

A grand total of 4,000 kilograms, or four tons of clothing was donated by Cebu’s socially aware citizens, who in turn, received lighter hearts in lieu of contributing greatly to this worthy cause. Electrolux mounted this event to show appreciation to its loyal customer base in Cebu, which comprises 15% of its market. The event involved ten sets of washers and dryers to wash and dry the donated clothing, which was then transferred to ABS-CBN’s Tabang Patrol.

In attendance and those who kicked off the event’s washing ceremony were Joy Polloso, Division Head of Ayala Center Cebu, Dondi Joseph, President of Cebu Business Club, Harely Ruedas, President of Clothes for Life, Trixie Lopez-Tolentino, Marketing and Events Specialist, ABS-CBN Central Visayas, Leo Lastimosa, Station Manager of DYAB, Glenda Navares, Store Manager of Metro Ayala, Consul Samuel Chioson, President of Cebu Chamber of Commerce, Espie Jingco, Division Manager of Metro Gaisano, First lady, Margot Osmeña and Malu Estaris, General Manager of Electrolux Philippines.

Fittingly, the event coincided with Electrolux’ long-time slogan, ‘Thinking of You,’ aptly describing the brand’s mindset to cater to the needs and passions of its consumers. More than just a company that makes products for the sake of demand, Electrolux devotes their time, knowledge and thought into anticipating and creating the kind of appliances consumers really need and want.

With over 100 years of global experience in the industry, their tagline “thinking of you” communicates their commitment to create appliances for safe use, for the environment, and for future generations.

Indeed, Electrolux’ ‘Thinking of You’ slogan expands beyond the consumer market to the community, seen through the brand’s commitment to bettering the lives of Filipinos. In 2006, the brand donated P500,000 worth of food to local charities in Bicol, while in 2007 and 2008, used clothing was collected and donated to the Sweethearts of Christ Foundation. In 2007, two sets of washers and dryers were given to a charity supporting victims of typhoon Frank in Calibo. Further, as part of the brand’s commitment to preserving the environment, Electrolux recently partnered with Bantay Kalikasan, donating P90 to the organization for every washer purchased during its Celebrity Washer Campaign, running from June to the end of August. In fact, at least one to two CSR events per year will be mounted by the brand in the future.

In its commitment to give back to the community, the brand also featured its range of eco-friendly washers at the event, which reduce water-usage by around 50% to 70% per wash. Electrolux Time Manager washers have preset start and stop functions, which can reduce energy consumption as well as monthly electricity bills if they are programmed to wash clothes during non-peak hours. By next year, 20% of its entire product line will be environmentally-friendly.
