Sabores De España at the Marco Polo
Being once a colony of Spain undeniably influenced our common preference for Spanish food. This explains our fondness for the cuisine which is carried on from our ancestors to the present generation. After all, it was the Spaniards who introduced us to the basic spices that are used daily in our kitchens. To name a few of our favorites: caldereta, pochero, mechado, callos, cocido. These are no strangers in our respective dinning tables, not to mention paella, lengua estofada and arroz valenciana on special occasions.
Once again, Marco Polo Plaza took us on another Culinary Journey to Spain for the second time around starting last July 10 and will go on until July 25. Dubbed as Sabores de Espana, the culinary feast, at the hotel’s Cafe Marco features well-loved Spanish dishes specially-prepared by Guest Chef Gemma Luisa Pido who shares her treasured family kept recipes for a truly authentic Spanish feast in collaboration with Marco Polo Plaza’s Executive Chef Luke Gagnon. Miss Pido used to be the Food and Beverage Consultant of Casino Espanol de Cebu and now the Culinary Director of The Gustavian.
The launch of the Spanish food festival took place two Fridays ago at Marco Polo’s El Viento Restaurant and Pool Bar with Guest of Honor, His Excellency Luis Arias Romero, Amabassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Philippines.
Do drop by at the Cafe Marco of the Marco Polo Plaza and experience another culinary journey to Spain. Hola, Espana!
