CEBU, Philippines – Asian hairstyles have become the “in thing” not only in Asia but in other parts of the world, as well. This is probably brought about by the increasing popularity of Anime shows, Chinovelas and Koreanovelas.

Bloomy, a salon located in Paseo Saturnino, Ma. Luisa Road, in Banilad, is owned and managed by Korean Lee Soo Young, or Sophia to her friends and clients.

Sophia studied at the Tokyo Beauty School in Japan, taught cosmetology in Korea and operated a salon there. However, during a visit to Cebu, she and her husband fell in love with the place and decided to settle here.

After giving up her salon in Korea to a friend, Sophia decided to open a salon here in Cebu because it is the business that she knows best. “I want to share my expertise here in Cebu. I want to share the services that were offered in my salon in Korea to the Cebuanos,” she said.

Since it opened last February, Sophia shared that business has been good and the salon has already attracted a number of patrons. What sets Bloomy apart from all the other salons in the metro is that Sophia personally attends to her clients. Although she has hired Filipino staff to help her in the salon, she still makes it a point to personally attend to clients, especially when it comes to hair services.

Bloomy also offers nail and foot spa, nail art, nail extension, waxing, rainbow tattoo (which lasts for 1 to 2 weeks), natural permanent make-up, eyelash extension and hair extensions, all at affordable prices, despite the fact that the products used for the services at Bloomy are imported from Japan, Korea, U.S.A and Germany. Clients also get a complimentary drink – green tea latte or iced tea.

“Our services and the products that we use for our services are top of the line. We want to give our clients the best possible salon service,” Sophia said.
