Your Health is Your Wealth

-

CEBU, Philippines - The strains of today’s financial crisis coupled with the grind of everyday living make us take our wellbeing for granted. In the process, our lifestyle deteriorates and puts our ability to generate income in jeopardy. This poses the fear of an insecure and unstable future not only for one’s self but also for one’s family.

Now more than ever, we need to be prepared for the possibility of falling ill and shouldering the medical costs that come with treatment. In fact, a recent survey by Sun Life confirms that health has always been the major concern of most Filipinos. However, nearly everyone is unprepared to shoulder the steep hospital bills and costly prescriptions, with 95% saying they would rely on personal savings to finance treatment cost while 53% would borrow funds from relatives. This in turn eats into the ability to create or maintain financial security.

Access to a dependable and affordable healthcare product is essential for Filipinos to augment out-of-pocket expenditures due to hospitalization. This is what Sun Life Financial Philippines (SLFP) wants to accomplish with Sun First Aid, the reliable protection from income loss caused by being sick.

Payable for a period of 10 years, Sun First Aid costs from as little as P430 per month, or less than P15 a day. With Sun First Aid, three important aspects of personal healthcare are covered: hospitalization, protection and a money back option of all payments made at the end of 10th year whether you get hospitalized or not.

Hospitalization benefits ensures that income is still coming in, which can supplement the money or the savings one has to use while in treatment:

•Daily Hospital Income – income from the date the Insured is hospitalized

•Long Term Hospital Income – additional income if hospitalization exceeds 30 days

•Intensive Care Unit Income – additional income in case of confinement in the ICU

• Surgical Benefit – reimbursement of surgical expenses

Protection benefits have life insurance coverage, accident coverage, and a total disability benefit where premiums are waved when the insured becomes totally and permanently disabled. Another augmentation feature of Sun First Aid is its money back option of all payments made where 50 percent to 75 percent of annual premiums paid can be redeemed at the end of the policy whether claims have been made or not.

“Your health is your wealth. Sun First Aid makes sure that you have money even while you’re recovering from hospitalization. You can either put the money you will receive in your savings or use it to lessen the cost of hospitalization,” explains SLFP president and chief executive officer Henry Joseph Herrera.
