Sharing your blessings

CEBU, Philippines - Blessings come in different ways and, once you share your blessings, it comes back to you a hundredfold.

Each one of us has this social responsibility to share our blessings, especially to those who are most needy. Most of us, however, only do the act of sharing our blessings during special occasions like Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. But remember this, giving and sharing is not bound by time. We can give gifts and share our blessings anytime, anywhere—especially when it is meant for those who badly need them.

Davis International Creative Concepts, Events & Models (DICCEM) recently launched a fundraising event and is inviting those who want to give and share their blessings to participate. The project aims to raise funds for the Children’s Help and Assistance Foundation Incorporated or CHAFI, a DSWD-accredited institution that takes care of the abandoned and physically and sexually abused children of Cebu.

CHAFI recently houses at least 30 children, aged 3 to 17, providing them food, education, clothes, medicine and love and understanding. Some of these children were physically hurt by their parents and relatives. Others were abandoned in open dump sites and garbage cans. They are the ones who badly need help.

On March 21, 2009, DICCEM will stage a concert for a cause at the Cebu International Convention Center, featuring one of the country’s most-sought-after band, MYMP. The show, dubbed “MYMP Now: The Cebu Concert” will also feature performances from former Pinoy Dream Academy Scholars and Cebu’s pride Van Roxas and Apple Abarquez.

Launched in December last year, DICCEM is committed to initiate fundraising events for CHAFI after its chief executive officer and general manager, the philanthropist Ms. Eliza Escario-Davis visited the foundation and saw the children. “I was touched by the different stories of these children. They need our care, love, and compassion. We can do it by giving our help through whatever way we could,” she said.

Ms. Davis appeals to each one of us to support this fundraising project by becoming a sponsor or benefactor. Buying tickets and watching the show is also a good simple way of giving our support; it is one way of sharing our blessings.
