The Yeung's Year-End Soiree

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO -

To meet the New Year with a bang, Martin Philip, only son of Carlos and Kit Yeung, makes it a point to have their party the liveliest, if ever. So right after the year-end party the family is hosting annually, Martin, the author, is already contemplating of what theme to have for next year’s happening. He just couldn’t help but love to see guests come to their soiree in colorful and marvelous costumes.

Last New Year’s eve, the invites asked the guests to come in their theme “Science Fiction” which, when translated, one has to wear costumes in Jedi, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek or whatever, that will spark the inner child fantasies. Actually, the theme was based on the period of intergalactic trials and tribulations, with rebel spaceships striking from hidden bases to continue to have victories against the empire…But was that enough to defeat Darth Vadar (Martin Y.) and his legions of soldiers. Only the guests could make the difference when they came to fight the rebels or the “Man in Black”?

By the way, the Lhuilliers, sans Charles and Joanna who are Manila-based, were the Galacticans: led by Consul Michel and Amparito with Michael and Joanna, Yvette and husband Frank Warnod from London, and international designer Monique and husband Tom Bugbee from Los Angeles, CA. Also there were Ambassador Phillip Lhuillier and wife Edna and their children.

Anyway, its undeniable that when the Yeungs throw a party, they always serve the finest wines like the Dom Perignon or Petrous.
