Avon Unveils Beauty Breakthroughs

The Avon brand name has reached iconic status when it comes to fashion, beauty and style. Over the years, Avon beauty products have played pivotal roles in the lives of millions of women across the country and all over the world – enabling them to look their most beautiful, and for Avon representatives, to benefit from earning opportunities presented by the sale of these beauty products.

Avon remains at the forefront of the beauty marketplace by bringing leading-edge, technology-based products to women around the world. Responding to what women really need and investing heavily on research, a commitment attested to by its state-of-the-art Research and Development Facility in Suffern, New York.

Recently, Avon Philippines opens the year in a grand way by introducing yet another line of breakthrough products at an exclusive luncheon event for members of the media aptly themed “Avon Laboratory of Beauty Discoveries”.

“As a global leader in direct selling and beauty products, Avon takes pride in providing women worldwide with innovative products that deliver great benefits and respond to their needs and are offered at great value. That’s our commitment - a commitment we’ve embraced throughout our 30 years in the country,” Avon Philippines President and General Manager Bob Briddon said during his welcome remarks. “Today’s event will demonstrate how strongly we adhere to that commitment as we introduce the latest from our innovative skincare line, our newest fragrance and ‘wow’ you with our complete makeup line as we share the color trend for the coming summer.”

Avon’s breakthrough products launch kicked off with a sumptuous lunch at The Peninsula Manila’s The Conservatory. Afterwards, media guests were led by celebrity emcee Angel Aquino to three different rooms that served as “laboratory” for each new product introduction.

The first laboratory on the Avon breakthrough route was for the Anew Clinical skincare line. A segment of Avon’s innovative ANEW Skincare brand, ANEW Clinical is a line of targeted skin treatments that resurface, lift, firm, plump and de-age skin with near surgical precision. The guests had the pleasure of meeting Dmitri Ptchelintsev, Strategic Alliances and New Technology Senior Manager from Avon’s R&D Facility in New York, who revealed the latest Anew Clinical innovation – Anew Clinical Retexturizing Peel. This breakthrough product is Avon’s one step answer to peeling away lines and imperfections without the need for a doctor’s appointment. Anew Clinical Retexturizing Peel allows women to enjoy the benefits of a dermatologist’s 35% glycolic peel —at home!

The second laboratory stop proved to be a feast of colors as Avon showed the guests its complete line of makeup products. The room was set up with color bars and immediately, the females among the guests, felt tempted to play with the colors of Avon.

“Avon is the brand trusted by millions of Filipino women,” shared Mari Ann Soliven, Southeast East Asia Category Head for Colors. “We’ve been making Filipinas look beautiful for 30 years in the Philippines. We value that trust by continuously coming up with makeup products that are fashionable and stylish, and provide women with value for their money. We’re proud to have our global R&D team in New York and our Global Creative Director Jillian Dempsey who make sure that our products adhere to the highest standards of quality and keep up with the trend, if not, set it. ”

Avon unveiled its latest color product, the Ultra Moisture Rich 24K Gold Lipsticks. These show-stopping lipsticks are enhanced with pure 24K gold and long lasting moisturization which makes them glide across the lips, leaving a lustrous sparkle and shimmery flecks. This is truly an indulgent treat for the lips.

UMR 24K Gold Lipsticks, which will be available in May 2009, will be the perfect finish for the metallic look and is expected to be the summer’s “it” look. Makeup expert Lala Flores affirmed this, saying, “This summer, the look will be all about the indulgence and shimmer of gold. It’s all about radiant beauty.”

Flores shared easy tricks to capture the summer metallic look and demonstrated on no less than Avon celebrity endorser and one of the country’s most popular actresses, Angel Locsin.

At the last breakthrough stop, the guests were surprised to see a real laboratory set-up done in playful and vivid colors. In this “laboratory”, Southeast Asia Cluster Category Head for Fragrance, Barbs Aguirre, and two mysterious looking scientists showed the guests the anatomy of a fragrance. Mixing 3 different essences, Aguirre revealed that these were actually the Top, Middle and Bottom notes of their newest fragrance called Just Play.

“Just Play joins the roster of Avon’s timeless fragrances with a fresh bouquet of vigor and enthusiasm. Just Play For Him and For Her capture the fun-loving spirit of the young. It’s really the essence of fun,” explained Aguirre.

Just Play’s playfulness is easily personified by its two celebrity endorsers, Luis Manzano and Nikki Gil, who earlier disguised themselves as the mysterious scientists.

Just as the media guests thought that they had enough surprises for the day, Avon presented them with special giveaways. It was another “Oprah-esque” afternoon, each guest received a big carry-all bag that housed 3 smaller bags, which in turn, contained a generous supply of Avon makeup, Anew Clinical products and Just Play samples.

It was one unforgettable breakthrough event from Avon, and for the media guests, it was an event that was indeed “truly” Avon.
