There is another side of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia that is not known to many – her artistic side; her sensitivity and skill to capture emotions into art forms.
Now on display at Gallery Q are six of Governor Gwen’s portraitures done in the 1970s under the tutelage of renowned Cebuano (now Manila-based) artist Gig de Pio in the quaint yet cozy Gallery 90, an art studio famed for its excellent works during that time.
Governor Gwen has come a long way in her first four years as Cebu’s first woman governor. With her passion to deliver and a sharp eye for economic enterprise, she has re-invented government, professionalized the delivery of public services and propelled Cebu into international recognition.
Governor Gwen’s accomplishments go beyond what could be seen by the naked eye. They include those that can be felt only in the hearts of everyone, rich and poor alike. The pride of being a Cebuano, the power of kinship, the fiery determination to take control of a situation instead of being controlled by it.
