The FREEMAN's Christmas Shindig

Themed parties here and abroad are very much the “in” thing. Unlike past years, if one is requested to come to an affair in costumes, they would snub the hosts. But not during The FREEMAN’s Christmas party!

Yes, last December 12, The FREEMAN’s Christmas Shindig was a roaring success. Everybody came in their most colorful and whimsical costumes since the theme was circus/carnival. I didn’t realize that the Arctic Room of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, which was decorated gleefully with balloons and confetti, would be filled to the hilt having the Editorial Staff in perfect attendance, the working men and women of the paper, the sales agents coming from far and near (Bohol, Dumaguete, Cagayan de Oro and some parts in Mindanao) to hobnob and participate in the fun and camaraderie. As if the place was too small for the next big event of The FREEMAN come July 2009!

Easily discernable during the affair were The FREEMAN bigwigs Chairman Jose “Dodong” Gullas and wife Nena (he looked hale and hearty after undergoing a knee surgery), President and CEO Miguel Belmonte and wife Millet, Joie Ma. Gullas Yu, Publisher Juanito V. Jabat, GM Melandro Mendoza, Editor-in-Chief Jerry S. Tundag and wife Arlene, and Atty. Jesus Isidro Atoc.

From beginning to end, there was never dull moment, with every presentation so hilarious and entertaining. Kudos to the organizers of the program who did a good job. And we congratulate our very own Lifestyle Assistant Editor Quennie Sanchez Bronce who won the most coveted title as the evening’s “Carnival Queen” for her sexy attire as “Cruella de Vil.” Two sexy sirens were Community Editor Divine Sanchez Ngujo and business reporter Ehda Dagooc. Also in outstanding outfit and make-up was our good friend Sports columnist Raffy Uytiepo, who came as the Joker.

Clowns in dotted red and white with Christmas hats and some court jesters were busy giving out prizes to those who won the raffles. It was truly a night full of fun and laughter!
