Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu officially began its Yuletide celebrations with the traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremonies held last December 2 in the resort’s lobby. Heading the tree lighting ceremony was Mr. Raymond Bragg, the resort’s general manager. Guests of honor at the event were Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza and Dr. Alfonso Amores.
The children of Batang Opon opened the festivities with a rendition of well-loved Christmas carols, as media friends, industry partners and resort guests joined the celebration. As soon as the Christmas tree was lit the Marigondon Elementary School Violin Ensemble serenaded guests while the children of Batang Opon gathered around the tree for the customary gift giving. Children of Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu’s executive committee led this year’s gift-giving activity.
This year’s 20-foot Christmas tree and its trimmings are green by design - fashioned from materials that are indigenous and natural, recycled, sustainably harvested or organically grown. A focal point of the tree’s decorations is the star trimmings that embody the season’s spirit of giving.
