The collaboration between Cebu’s top designers with Manila’s recognizable names and active wear labels proved to be a huge success that catapulted style to a whole new heightened plane. And the notion that fashionable finds take place only in fashion capitals is severely outmoded. After all, Cebu was once again thrust into the spotlight with Waterfront and Samsung’s latest fashion installation.
A less-is-more philosophy is embedded in the DNA of Arcy Gayatin, Jun Escario, Joey Samson and Philip Rodriguez as they unleashed on the racetrack runway pared-down and precise visions. The chic lady designer Arcy Gayatin, for her Summer 2009 offering felt the urge for neutrality with a little burst of color. Maxi dresses in woodbark brown stretch jersey were draped and ingeniously fused with aqua for a coup de grace collection accessorized with Technomarine timepieces. Jun Escario swapped his romantic notions for an earlier era of draped Greek togas in bone and black as he teamed up with Speedo while Joey Samson spun plain into exquisitely sporty and pretty as grey jumpsuits in stretch wool paraded with track footwear-inspired platform shoes completed the look with Kipling.
Having strewn his summer forecast with nature inspired silhouette and hues, Philip Rodriguez remained keen on green. Foliage flourished in ruffle-form and thin strips of khaki colored chiffon were laser-cut onto bodices, collars and hip ornaments to create a Nirvana like approach to summer dressing. The nature-loving designer and city commissioner used Havaianas slippers to make his dresses light to behold and wear with ease.
Bravissimo!
