Pino celebrates 1st anniversary with foodfest

The success of the first Food Festival at Pino Restaurant last May inspired Pino's COO Joel del Prado to put up another food fiesta that zeroes in on Pampanga's cuisine, long known for its flavorful yet light concoctions. For the occasion, Pino invited two of the most well-known Pampango culinary artists, Edith Singian and Sau del Rosario.

Edith Singian has degrees in food and nutrition and a masteral in the Science of Food. Her early exposure to the food business started when her family took over management of the Malacañang Cafeteria and the National Economic Council Canteen in 1959. The very discriminating clientele of both mess halls in the palace accounted for Edith's attention to details, thoroughness of execution for maximum taste in the varied food preparation she makes.

Edith also managed the La Casita Royal at the College of St. Benilde, De La Salle University and, through her stewardship, was for five years the recipient of the Best Canteen Award given by the ABSD Student Council from 1990 to 1995. She was singled out to be one of the official caterers for the Papal visit in Manila for the 10th World Youth Day in 1995.

Having retired from catering, Edith is, presently, a regular food columnist for Cook Magazine and One Philippines, which are distributed in Hongkong, Canada, Spain, USA and UK. She is food consultant for Pancake House Group, of which the highly acclaimed "Kabisera ni Dencio's" in Taguig is one of them. Her recommendation of the place as one of the five best restaurants to visit in Manila got her an exclusive interview with South China Post of Hong Kong.

Edith's original pastry creation, "Editha's Way," which is of cheesecake foundation with Brazo de Mercedes upper half had earned good reviews from food critics. Editha's Way is reflective of what she is going to unveil at PINO's come October 14 to 16 – jazzed up Pampango cuisine alongside the province's heritage recipes. With the other kababayan, Sau del Rosario, expect the magic of Pampango cuisine to cast upon Cebuano diners. For reservation, please call 2320939 or txt or call 09285017796.
