Taking points

Opposites attract. Post summer hot hues go perfectly with neutrals and that was even more pronounced at the Bench Dress Me Up fashion show at the Mactan Ballroom of the Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa. Bench endorsers Jon Avila (formerly known as Jon Mullaly in his modeling days) and hot swimmer Enchong Dee shared the runway with Cebu’s premier models from M.A.C.>Models Association of Cebu.

Amidst squeals of delight from the obviously enthralled audience consisting mostly of hotel guests, the recently introduced fashion formula of full color + never-boring neutrals definitely summed up to a wow. The show featured 14 pairs of jeans, 12 pairs of khakis, 28 T-shirts and ladies’ tops of all types and grades and15 jackets. After the fast paced runway show that finished in a flash, one notable guest made his way to the backstage to ask, “How many items of clothing should a guy own?” It seemed perplexing but if there’s one thing I remember from my four years of higher education, it’s this rule: quality over quantity.

Scrutinizing some mundane details on a piece of clothing brings one closer to quality clothes in your wardrobe. While retail brands like Bench (pictured on this page) and others passed extensive quality control, it is wise and prudent (not to mention uber-modern) also to mix retail with couture where quality is top priority. Designer names like Philip Rodriguez, Arcy Gayatin, Protacio, Edwin Ao, Marichu Tan, Jun Escario, Oj Hofer and Cary Santiago to name a few, carry top quality made-to-order stuff that’s de rigueur, to go with retail. So create a look that is distinctively your own. Opposites do really attract!
