Spaaahhh Tips
Having a huge interest in spas, I think that it is a good practice to make body treatments, for health and skin purposes, a regular part of your life. Most people consider their spa experiences enjoyable and comfortable. Most of those who have had spa experiences look forward to their next visit. First-timers on the other hand usually have a lot of anxiety about the whole experience so I have put together a list of tips that might help.
Always get to the spa early. Never ever be late as it might compromise the length and effectiveness of your treatment. Always keep voice levels to a minimum and turn off mobile phones as it ruins the whole sense of tranquillity. The recommended time to be at the spa is at least 15 to 20 minutes before your appointment to have time for a stress-free check-in, to change into your robe and slippers, and to relax and clear your mind. But to benefit a bit more, I would usually go 30 to 60 minutes before to sit and relax in the lounge, have something to eat/drink and read magazines. Depending on the spa, we could sometimes take advantage of the special spa facilities – sauna, steam room, pool, jacuzzi, hot tub, etc. A quick hot shower can also help you to relax before your treatment.
As your therapist is always there to provide your needs and guide you throughout the whole experience, try to relax and allow him/her to care for you. If you feel uncomfortable during the treatment, feel free to speak up, as therapists would always be more than happy to help make adjustments. It is also up to you if you would like to have a nice conversation with your therapist as it sometimes gets the best work done!
After a treatment, it always feels so good to lie in just for a bit longer, but as a client, I also have to remember it is not napping time and that there could be another person waiting to be treated. I respect the fact that I have to get up and take only a few minutes to get dressed. After all, every spa should have a lounge room if you need to relax a bit longer and have more quiet time to yourself.
Always leave a 15-20 percent tip for appreciation. More than the recommended amount is highly appreciated, most especially for excellent service. It makes the therapist feel absolutely good about their job. You will also notice that on your next visit, they’d be more than happy to accommodate you. But of course, the amount is left up to your discretion.
Another tip for those scheduling two treatments together is to get a body treatment before a massage or a massage before a facial for a better outcome. Continue your treatment at home by drinking lots of water and eating fruit to cleanse your system.
A day at the spa does put your thoughts together. It is definitely one good way of pure relaxation.
