She Day 2008: Her True Colors

- Annie Hazel D. Basada -

OMF Literature, Inc. celebrated womanhood last May with the staging of She Day 2008. The third staging of She Day featured inspirational talks from Donita Rose C. Villarama, Lou Atencio-Cruz, and Ms. Evelyn Miranda-Feliciano, which was held at the Ayala Onstage Cinema 1.

TV personality Donita Rose Villarama shared how she got to know her real self in her walk with God and how she realized, despite of her being physically beautiful, that she has imperfections and these were all compromised on her turning point in life: returning to God and “receiving Him into our lives.” Donita talked about her younger years growing up as Christian and yet doing things contrary to what was expected of her. But it was in these times, she said, that she truly got to know God and how He helped her become a better person. She adds, “God carried me every step of the way.”

On keeping real relationships, Lou Atencio-Cruz shared that she actually asked the Lord on what path she would take. Now, a stable architect and businesswoman, she manages to keep her family and congregation balanced by “understanding that there is something more important.” She said that “there are important people in our lives…to understand the things that happen. Sometimes, God allows things to happen so that we can take care of everything and weigh things so that no one gets predisposed.”

Evelyn Miranda Feliciano, meanwhile, shared about real-life stories of Filipinos abroad. Her book Hope Away From Home tries to show that situations of people happen in history with a happy ending because God is recognized in their lives as in the story of Ruth in the Bible.
