Capture summer memories with Canon cameras

- Dennisa Jane D. Pepito -

Cameras are one of the must-have gadgets during summer since these help us capture summer memories. What good is a beach outing or a mountain climbing adventure if you don't have photographs to remind you of the fun you had.

To better capture your summer escapades, Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. launched 16 hot gadgets for its Canon ImageNation Summer '08 Expo.

Canon introduced four point and shoot digital cameras: PowerShot A470, PowerShot A580, PowerShot A590 IS and IXUS 80 IS; two MiniDV camcorders: ZR 900 and ZR 930; two DVD camcorders: DC 310 and DC 320; two laser beam printers: Laser Shot LBP 3310 and Laser Shot LBP 3370; and four multimedia projectors: XEED SX7 and X700 LCOS projectors and LV-7585 LCD projectors; together with the highly anticipated EOS 450D digital SLR.

DIGIC III, Canon's proprietary Digital Imaging Processor, powers all of the cameras that were recently launched. This technology enhances the product's internal image processing which results to faster speed, more accurate auto-focus and improved image quality. DIGIC III enables improved face detection features like Face Detection Auto Focus (AF) and Face Select and Track features, which are extremely useful functions for both still and moving subjects because the camera locks on the target subject, even when it moves.

The Canon PowerShot line offers a comprehensive range of digital cameras with powerful creative shooting options. The PowerShot A470 is perfect for teenagers who want a digital camera to match their personalities by choosing from any of the available colors: blue, red, green, yellow and silver. Equipped with a 7.1 mega pixel CCD and a 3.4x optical zoom lens, it also has Super Macro shooting that allows users to capture crisp details as near as 1 cm from the subject.

Photo enthusiasts will surely love the versatile PowerShot A580 and A590 IS, which boast of user-friendly features and professional quality image output with its 8 mega pixel CCD and 4x optical zoom lens. Added to both PowerShots is the new Easy Mode feature, which minimizes screen clutter and displays only the shooting mode, flash setting and number of shots left.

Express yourself through IXUS 80 IS that combines the beauty and portability of a fashionable digital camera. Now in an even sleeker body, it comes in five different colors - metallic sepia, silver, pink, camel and blue - to cater to every personality and distinguished taste. With an upgraded 8 mega pixel sensor and 3x optical zoom, it is even more intelligent than before because of the presence of Lens Shift-Type Optical Image Stabilizer (IS), together with the Motion Detection Technology and High ISO Auto feature that control image blurring.

To truly enjoy the moments you captured, SELPHY ES20 is the perfect partner to every digital camera. With a 2.5" LCD, instant printing from any camera, mobile phone, or memory card is made fun and easy.

The all new compact and light DSLR EOS 450D is packed with 12.2 mega pixel CMOS sensor, EOS Integrated Cleaning System Function and a 3" LCD monitor with 230,000 dots with wide viewing angle, to mention a few. It is a must-have for its superb feature of continuous shooting speed of 3.5 frames per second, fast start-up time of 0.2 second and spot metering function.

Perfect for preserving true-to-life footages are Canon's latest line up of PhotoDV camcorders. The new DC320 and DC310 feature the lowest power consumption (2.3 W) among DVD camcorders with up to more that one hour of recording in one single battery charge. Both models are user-friendly with joystick control for convenient and quick navigation. With built-in image stabilizer, 48x advanced zoom capability and 1.07 mega pixel (DC320) or 800K pixel (DC310), users are assured of crystal-clear image quality.

Canon is likewise providing consumers with the ZR930 and ZR900 MiniDV camcorders, which are equipped with 48x advanced zoom capability and audio upgrade. For the first time in miniDV camcorders, Canon has included an external microphone input to both models.

Designed for stress-free large volume printing, Canon's laser printers Laser Shot LBP 3310 and LBP 3370 are capable of ultra-fast printing at 26 pages per minute (ppm) for single-sided printing. Both Laser Shot printers feature zero warm-up time from standby mode, due to Canon's On-Demand Fixing technology.

Setting new standards for display are the small, quick and powerful XEED SX7 and XEED X700 multimedia projectors that are armed with the revolutionary Aspectual Illumination System (AISYS) technology. AISYS enables XEED projectors to be highly portable without compromising brightness and clarity with the use of LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) panels. Both models have the brightness level of 4000 lumens – a standard which was previously attainable for any ultra-portable range of LCOS projectors – with 1.7x zoom lenses and a one-touch Auto Set button for fuss-free operation and setup.

For large indoor and outdoor venue display, the new LV7585 stands out with a brightness of 6,500 lumens using a newly developed 330 W NSHA lamp and high-aperture-ratio LCD panels. It also features a much improved contrast ratio of 1600:1, one of the highest contrast ratios currently available in the market.

For smaller venues, the new Canon LV365 comes into play. It produces an output of 3000 lumens by incorporating a new highly efficient 210 W NSHA lamp, ensuring large and clear images can be projected even in small spaces with high levels of ambient light. It has a contrast ratio of 500:1 that allows accurate color reproduction.
