Cebu’s Wedding of the Year

When Mark Lester Guanzon and Christianne Sebastian tied the knot last March 28, no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo took time out from her busy schedule to be with the couple during the solemn rites at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

Mark is the son of Presidential Assistant Felix and Marilyn Guanzon, while Christianne is the daughter of Corazon Sebastian of Zamboanga.

The bride was escorted by her uncle Ramon Sebastian.

The long list of sponsors was like a who’s who of Cebu's elite and that of the country's with the President paired with Sec. Alberto Romulo.  Two others from the cabinet in the list of principal sponsors were esteemed Cebuanos Sec. Cerge Remonde and Under Secretary Francisco Benedicto.

The local governments were also represented by Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, Danao City Mayor Ramon Durano III and his wife Elizabeth, and Lamitan City (Basilan) Mayor Roderick Furigay.

The rest of the male principal sponsors were Consul Antonio Chiu, Atty. Hernando Perez, Edmund Gaisano Sr.,  Jose Atienza, Winglip Chang, George Gordiel, Ernie Sebastian, Genevevo Sebastian, Gerry Gordiel, and Alfredo Pacho.

The rest of the female principal sponsors were Dr. Belinda Pañares, Olivia Yanson, Lilian Go, Margot Osmeña, Judy Gaisano, Luz Chua, Felicitas Guanzon, Milalyn Rodriguez, Nela Ferrer, Leah Sebastian, Dr. Marilyn Sebastian, and Helena Lim.

Msgr. Roberto Alesna officiated the wedding rites.
