New Year Ball at Casino Español

- Honey Jarque Loop -

Once again, the Casino Español de Cebu lived up to its reputation of being the grandest and most fun place to be for New Year’s celebration.

Just about everyone came in costume, either as individual, couple or group, all vying for the nod of the board of judges for the much coveted best in costume prizes.

The winner in the individual Re-creation category was Jose Luis Alba as Oozy Ozborne while his wife Rosemarie dressed in a “special operations” costume was adjudged as Most Original.

The award for the Most Original Couple went to the Policeman and the robber pair of Bingen and Annette Mendezona.

Not to be outdone were  Glenn and Honey Loop in their authentic American Indian outfits who  won  in the Re-creation category.

The grand prize for the group went to the Fallen Angels as Most Original. They were Mariano and Ada Martinez, Anita San Jose, Boging and Ruth Palacios, Diana Ledesma and Herbert Cang, Loloy and Angie Unchuan, and Tony and Jean Teves.

Inspired by the top grosser film Austin Powers, the sons and daughters of club members and some friends performed a much applauded exhibition that earned them the Best Re-creation Group. They included Paco and Monique Jarque, Bryan and Chaveli Head, Mike Sasnovski, Vanesa Amman, Inaki and Bea Martinez, Rina del Rosario, Miren Jarque, Marco and Marge Bellal, Mikel Rotaeche and Eduard Loop.

The out of town band from Bacolod called the Checkmates provided the music that had everyone dancing and shaking on the dance floor .

Dedicated officers led by president Cheling Sala, directors Manoling Sainz, and Jose Luis Alba with hands on manager Ed Tongco were all smiles as the event proved to be a success beyond expectation.
