Getting closer to Wimbledon

It is way past the Wimbledon season, but the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum declares tennis everyday! The museum has recently been open to the public, the perfect chance to give tennis lovers the opportunity to experience the Wimbledon highlights all year round.

Many would seem surprised to hear that the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum even exists, but the exhibits and artefacts surprisingly draw a lot of public attention.

The main attractions include The Champion Trophies that have made Wimbledon the most popular tennis venue, where an extensive collection, from early to the more recent championships, is on display. This includes souvenirs, memorabilia and equipment that belonged to the greatest players that set foot on the court.

The cinema featuring a film about the science of tennis and Matrix-style special effects that capture every viewer present, is another big attraction. It also features footage with a combination of projected images and flat panel displays that shared the most memorable and breathtaking tennis matches.

The tour then takes you into the off-limits area together with the help of technology, where you will be able to view scenes from Wimbledon’s past. This also involves a vast collection of the Wimbledon attire, more importantly, outfits dating back to the early tennis days.

Accessing the museum is very easy when audio guides in eight languages and easy to use touch screens for more important information guide you along the museum hallway. Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to taking a bit of exclusive Wimbledon merchandise home from the Museum Shop – items range from shirts, books, towels, mugs, pens and other licensed souvenirs or by enjoying Wimbledon’s traditional strawberries and cream at the Museum Café!
