CCUCA Workshop

Call it amazing!

The Cebu Colleges and Universities Choreographers Association successfully conducted its first Multicultural Dance Workshop for teachers last November 10 and 11 at the CSCST Main Campus gymnasium where 80 participants from all over Central Visayas and other neighboring regions joined to learn Asia-Pacific dances which included ethnic dances from Thailand (Pon Foo Thai), South Korea (Hwa Gwan Mu), Samoa/Maori of New Zealand (Hoki Mai), vernacular dances from Cambodia (Ram Saravan, Ram Leov), Joget Modern from Malaysia, and Bhangra from India and Pakistan.

“This workshop is very interesting and quite different from other dance workshops I attended,” exclaimed a delegate-teacher from Camotes. “The dances introduced opened many ideas on the cultures of our Asian neighbors.”

In addition, lectures on costuming and staging allowed the participants full grasp of the subject matters introduced.

Staging of multi-cultural dances is now a high school requirement of the Department of Education.
