Pastels for Hunks

- Jen F. Vega -

Metropolitan guys are most likely to have a strong aesthetic sense and inordinate interest in appearance and style. While it is true that menswear is expensive, it has not intimidated them in acquiring the “branded,” as others will call it, wardrobe in their efforts to strut the best look in town.

Men label women as vain creatures. When it comes to fashion, women easily get swayed and eventually go crazy over something in bazaar kiosks. To counteract, women admit they are vain but menswear items are absolutely pricey. A lady’s top may cost at least P150, while a man’s shirt is at P350. Given those figures, a lady can buy two tops for herself with P350 on her pocket. So, that would leave us with the fact that men splurge! The argument goes on but the reality is simple, men also have the right to be fashionable, thus, they can dress well as they please.

If you are a fan of Koreanovelas, most probably you have seen how the Korean actors dress up, finding yourself swooning over their ruggedly handsome looks or you’ll drop dead at their stunts. When men dress up, they become unintentionally charmers – how neat they can be, how their manly features are enhanced by using the right cut and shade.

Pastel colored shirts, though, have feminine appeal, are more flattering than shirts with dark colors/shade like brown, black and navy blue. Don’t worry, you won’t lose your macho image when wearing “girly” colors.    Indeed, tough guys wear pink (or shall we put mint green, baby blue, carnation pink, etc.).

Soccer player Chad Gould, in his debut modeling stint in the Philippines, tried out Blue Camp shirts found in Metro Ayala. As a sports man, he is used to wearing jerseys with colors like golden yellow, red, navy blue and green. It was discovered that pastel colors definitely looked good on him – a ruggedly handsome soccer player!
