Governor Gwen’s second mandate

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO -

“Because she had a fantastic margin over her competitor during the last elections, Governor Gwendolyn Fiel Garcia could only say that her winning was truly a mandate by the people she has served so well!”

June 30, 2007 marked the second entrance to provincial governance of a kinetic and very energetic Lady Governor Gwen Garcia as she took her oath of office before Vice President of the Philippines Noli de Castro at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall. Her distinguished father, Congressman Pablo P. Garcia and brother Congressman Pablo John F. Garcia also took their oath in the presence of her mother, retired Judge Esperanza Fiel Garcia. Also taking their oath of office were Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. and the Provincial Board Members: Juan V. Bolo and Julian Daan of the 1st District; Wilfredo Casimero and Peter John Calderon of the 2nd District; Victoria Corominas and Caesar Ian Zambo – 3rd District; Rosemarie Durano and Agnes Magpale – 5th District; and Victor Maambong and Wenceslao Gakit of the 6th District.

The oath-taking ceremony was preceded with a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Msgr. Cris Garcia. After which, a big dinner reception followed at the Social Hall where hordes of friends of the governor and vice governor came to share the euphoria of the times.

Gov. Gwen, wearing a beautiful terno with touches of gold by Cary Santiago, thanked all those who helped her during the good times and bad. And because of what she has done for the people of the province of Cebu, the constituents gave her the second mandate…a mandate she will always treasure in her heart. God bless you, Guv!
