The order of the day: Silence

LOUD music. Where does this belong? At concert halls, clubs, homes and private cars/transportation. In some situations, I feel that this is not very necessary. Why?

There are just some things that I will never understand as to why some people go into such raptures on rap music, for instance, when more than half of the words cannot even be understood. But who am I to care? As long as people are considerate enough to turn down loud music, most especially in public places.

Another thing that I’ll never quite understand is unusually loud music in restaurants. If this happens, it always suggests to me that it either wants to get rid of its customers as quickly as possible or to have a screaming atmosphere to compete with the noise of the music and other restaurateurs. Admit it, loud music can sometimes be annoying when you want to have your meal in peace.

Unusually loud music in restaurants is nearly as disturbing as music in shops, especially when you hear the sales assistants singing to it and ignoring more than half of the customers! Then again, we probably haven’t really noticed it, but we never really want to do our shopping at shops where music is too loud! It is such a big distraction! We will not only suffer temporary distraction, but the noise will seriously affect critical faculties. And when you leave the shop, you would wish you had told them to turn the music down.

But loud music can do so many things and that’s why some people believe that it has a purpose. It can make people feel cooler, younger, older or emotional. Although listening to loud music is sometimes psychological (especially for youngsters), some people should still be considerate enough for the sake of others as most of us do find it very irritating! There is always a place for loud music, but my point is to have it at the right place.
