HSBC recently opened its second branch in Cebu to extend a wider range of services and banking capabilities to individuals and business in the city and other nearby provinces. Cebu City is widely recognized as a center for commerce and culture, and is one of the largest ports of trade in the Philippines. The opening of the second branch in Cebu is a testament to HSBC's long-term commitment to the country and represents a significant investment in the area.
The new branch, built according to HSBC's global branch design standards, will service the growing number of account holders and credit card costumers in Cebu. It features a 24-hour banking facility that will allow costumers to make withdrawals, deposits and credit card payments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. "The establishment of a second branch in Cebu is but part of our continuous efforts to bring Cebu the benefits of our combined global expertise and local experience. This strategic move will allow a greater number of Cebuanos access to the world class banking to service their increasingly sophisticated financial needs," said Mark Watkinson, HSBC's new President and Chief Executive Officer for its Philippine operations. The bank first established its presence in Cebu with a branch along Juana Osmeña Street in 1996. The branch was then relocated to its current location at the Taft Ayala Building within the Cebu Business Park in 2004. HSBC's latest branch also features a Premier Centre, an exclusive banking area for HSBC's most valued clients. HSBC Premier is a total wealth management package offering one-on-one personalized service from a dedicated relationship manager, an extensive range of investment instruments, an attractive Rewards programme, and recognition in other HSBC offices worldwide.
"Wealth management is a key priority area for HSBC. In the Philippines, we have been serving a growing number of discerning clients who are redefining their financial lifestyle through Premier banking. This is an exciting time in the arena of personal financial services," Watkinson added. Prior to opening its second branch in Cebu, HSBC opened a branch in Davao, marking the bank's first presence in the Mindanao region.
