Gearing Up for Norkis Yamaha

For the elusive yet exclusive prolific designer Protacio, whose cause celebre includes an applause-generating collection at last year's Philippine Fashion Week at the NBC Tent in Manila (he is now at the first stage of preparation for this year's Fashion Week), men's wear collection is doubly challenging. To quote, "I can think of a million fantabulous designs for women but with men's wear, there is so much to be desired!"

He is not to be blamed though. Men, most especially Filipino men, have a shortsighted vision of style and tend to be boxed in with what is presented especially in mass media. Metrosexuals or not, men's wear, primarily dished out by retail shops, is repetitive that borders on being boring. Enter the perfect partnership of designer Protacio whipping up a collection designed exclusively for the Norkis Yamaha launch of their new stylized motorbikes. These include a canary yellow X-1 designed by Valentino Rossi, a bio-mech Crypton Z with television, (Yes, a portable TV where you can enjoy watching your favorite dvd while parking in the woods with a special someone) and a pearlized Mio, among others.

Gearing Up unfolds today at the Ayala Entertainment Center 6 in the evening with a fashion show that features the men from M.A.C.>Models Association of Cebu and special appearances by model beauty queens Karla Bautista, Melanie Ediza, Stephanie Señires, Angel Luzano, Anna Maris Igpit and Supermodel Marjay Ramirez. This 3-day exhibit also features motorbike accessories and fashion collection, as interpreted by Protacio, on display. To Norkis Yamaha and Protacio, bravissimo!
