Transcending language barriers
January 5, 2007 | 12:00am
Deus Caritas Estas "God is Love". And since God is love, we give each other LOVE on His birthday.
Many people say that the best way to show love to someone is to spend time with him/her. And the models of M.A.C> Models Association of Cebu know that. That's why despite the hustle and bustle of the Season we made it a point to visit Seven Sisters' Home for the Elderly before 2006 ended.
Behind the glitz and glamour of ramp modeling, posing for print ads and photo shoots; the good looks and sexy bodies, we all have the heart to reach out and make those who least expect it, feel important and loved not just on Christmas but the whole year through.
We were very happy to be back with the lolas, but we were saddened to know that some of the lolas we met last year, just passed away. On the other hands, new ones are added to the Home, like an old Japanese lady who touched us most.
Her presence and response to our mini fashion show made us realize that the language of love transcends language barriers. She neither speaks nor understands a word in English but the joy we see in her eyes as we try to communicate with her expresses her gratitude. If we could just capture her eyes with a camera, it would be "a perfect Kodak moment." Priceless!
And because of that, we are happy to be channels of God's love to His children and to continue doing the best we can for the community.
Because more than just participating in outreach programs, all MAC models want to be good sons and daughters, students, professionals, all-in-all, citizens of this country. Not just during Christmas but also during the remaining 364 days. We can just imagine the joy we can spread all the days of our lives!
