Well, good news to all of us: there is a shop in town where we can have our favorite native products in very affordable prices. TP or Totally Philippines Designs International recently opened a store that looks forward into giving Cebuanos very good quality products in very reasonable prices.
TP originated from the creative minds of some Fine Arts enthusiasts. It was only a hobby, collecting some "abubots," but now, they are engaged in this fast rising industry. They first saw this kind of products in the department stores which they would like to purchase but found expensive. Out of curiosity and interest, they visited the manufacturers of the said products and found out that these were cheap. To help the Filipinos and to put their talents to good use, Raphael Pestaño and his cousins decided to open their own store.
TP, which also stands for Tomas Pestaño - the grandfather of Raphael-aims to promote everything that is Filipino-made. The different products that they showcase are made of bamboo, coconut strips, abaca, ipil-ipil, "tukog," etc. which are all created by the expert hands of local suppliers from different provinces all over the country, according to some of the designs suggested by the owners.
They mainly want to help local suppliers to have better earnings from handicrafts they are producing, by selling the products in reasonable prices and probably expand for export. In this way, more demands and better production will take effect. Other than that, they also accept original designs that will add up to their range of products. "If you want to offer service or designs, ari lang diri. We become the mediator, sa ila man ang earnings. Tinabangay lang gud. Luoy man sad sila kay creative kayo unya wala sila'y makita, for export pa gyud. Creative man ang mga Filipinos ba, depende lang sa availability," Zarah Smith enthused.
Nestled at Gorordo Avenue, Lahug, Cebu City, TP can afford Cebuanos an easy access to Filipino products: beautiful bags, accessories, sandals, hats, wind chimes, keychains, baskets, scrapbooks, candle holders, lamps, vases, curtains and many other home and kitchen decors.
TP also caters to the guests of their sister-company, Handuraw. There, they can dine, have a cup of coffee or have a meeting in the cozy environment. Likewise, soon they will be offering hot chocolate. So, what are you waiting for? Be proud and appreciate our own products!
