Frock and Roll

Penshoppe's Twentieth Anniversary culminated with a big bang! To be more precise, twenty bands the likes of Kamikazee, Parokya ni Edgar, Kala, itchyworms, Pedicab, Hale, Protein Shake, Juana, 6Cyclemind, Imago, Mojofly, Sandwich, Sugarfree, Spongecola, Pupil and Bamboo played the whole night through at the Penshoppe Denimlab Rockfest as more than twenty models from CalCarrie sashayed down the glass runway in Araneta Coliseum.

A two-tier stage strategically allowed the bands to play one after another sans any lull and the inconvenience of moving their respective instruments. It also served as a backdrop for a collection that was simply Wow! Hiphugger jeans were the lowest I have ever seen and the cotton shirts emblazoned with bold pronouncements like "Music saved my life!" were oh so comfy and cool. Chic biker chicks in various denim concoctions from fitted jeans to micro-minis to the tattered clamdiggers to jackets and Victorian blouses bleached and washed to perfection are de rigueur for today's fashionista. Styling par excellence is what I call it as handsome hunks with lean bodies came out in washed low waist jeans, boots and studded belts with make up a la The Crow. Each piece was paraded in the sloping runway stamped with Penshoppe's signature style and painstaking attention to details and quality. For finale, the live mannequins donned all white outfits with signature models Heart Evangelista and Jericho Rosales coming out with angels' wings sprouting from their backs. It was oh so heavenly!

Without a doubt, Penshoppe's Denimlab line is a must have and should be decreed to be a main staple in every youth's wardrobe. So what are you waiting for? Dash to your nearest Penshoppe outlet.
