Breaking the rules

- THEDANCE&THENSOME -
Music videos have always been an integral part in our lives. That is, if we are not living under a rock! And the ones truly remembered are those that really pushed our minds.

Here's a master list of all-time favorite, if not controversial, music videos that topped the MTV poll of videos which "broke the rules".

Starting from the tenth - WANNABE by Spice Girls (1996), ninth- Jamiroquai's VIRTUAL INSANITY (1997), eight- CALL ON ME by Eric Prydz (2004), Robbie Williams' ROCK DJ (2000)- seventh, sixth- SCREAM by Michael and Janet Jackson, Madonna's VOGUE (1999) and RAY OF LIGHT (1998) lands fifth and fourth place respectively, Michael Jackson's THRILLER (1982) - third, and BABY ONE MORE TIME by Britney Spears finishes second.

Hitting an all-time high at the shock-o-meter scale is Madonna's LIKE A PRAYER video(1989), where the Material Girl dances around burning crosses and kissing a Black Nazarene in the church. The controversial video ignited Christian organizations to criticize her promo and labeled it blasphemous, causing the video and a bandwagon of Pepsi product commercials to be banned from air.

Hep hep hooray for Madonna! Was it she who said these three famous lines? "Rejection is the greatest aphrodisiac. A lot of people don't say what they want that's why they don't get what they want. I'll never stop until I'm famous as God." Atta girl!
