Sinangag Express

- Jad A. Conde -
A disgruntled friend once said that a huge bill doesn't necessarily mean you had a good meal. Yes, she is absolutely right. But, that time, it was actually a form of escapism. It is one of our many subtle ways of saying that we could not afford a pricey buffet.

So, we explored a lot of open eating-places that are sprouting all over the metropolis. And, oh, we were certainly glad we did because we were able to prove that indeed quality does not need to be expensive but affordable.

This is definitely true of Sinangag Express - one of Cebu's most sought-after open eating-places that has four branches located in Lahug, Urgello, Guadalupe and Mabolo.

Sinangag Express unmistakably catches the eye and definitely pleases the palate. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Since it is a 24-hour operation, nicely lit Sinangag Express is a perfect place to go for a post gimmick chow. In fact, there are a lot of people eating late at night and even in the wee hours of the morning.

"Actually, we got the idea from a burger. Nakahunahuna mi nga mag-open ug parihag style sa Burger Machine pero Filipino meal ang amuang i-serve. It's more of a fastfood," proprietor Resty Esponilla said.

As its name suggests, Sinangag Express' main fare is its sinangag (fried rice, topped with garlic bits), revolving aroung the silog (sinangag and itlog) concept. The menu consists of tapsilog (tapa, sinangag, itlog), chosilog (chorizo), baconsilog (bacon), hamsilog (ham), chx adsilog (chicken adobo) and a lot of tasty combinations. The menu is served with a bowl of soup. All for 42 pesos! And the servings are quite generous. Iced tea is available, too. So, there is no reason to be thirsty.

For a year and a half, Sinangag Express has had a total of five branches including the one in Mandaue that closed. The business is admirably growing so that the men behind the silogan have good news for all of their loyal customers.

"We are planning nga naa mi home delivery sab. Taas man ang demand gud. This is because we really think of the customer's satisfaction. And we are really happy nga nindot ang feedback. Within a year and a half gud naa na mi five branches," Esponilla pointed out.

Sinangag Express started with only eight menus. Now, it has already twenty-two tasty combinations. Esponilla said that there would be more branches to come. Hope to see you eating in one of their branches, then!
