A Hawaiian Luau for Cathay Pacific Cebu's Marco Polo High Flyers
December 29, 2005 | 12:00am
Cebu's high flying Marco Polo Club Members celebrated Christmas in Hawaiian Style this year as guests were invited to come in their most fun "hula" attire. The new Hilton Resort beachfront proved to be an appropriate venue for the luau.
Cathay Pacific's General Manager for Southeast Asia Patrick Yeung came down from the airline's regional office in Bangkok to host the affair together with Country Manager Philippines Vivian Lo and Cebu Manager Suzanne Wong.
Guests were entertained with a Hawaiian/Tahitian presentation complete with the traditional fire dance, after which came some fun Hawaiian games including a hula-hoop and limbo rock contest. Both young and young-at-heart guests had fun trying to outdo each other.
This year, Cebu's highest flyers were recognized and awarded. The top flyer in the Mileage Category was Member Winsor White while the highest flyer in the Sector Category was James Tony Smith. Cathay Pacific management showed their appreciation to the 2 through the awarding of 1 Roundtrip Business Class ticket for each of them. The second placers in each category (Peter Cullen - Mileage and John Joseph Mercado-Sector) were also recognized and awarded, this time with a roundtrip Economy Class ticket. The 3rd placers (Tita Tomayao-Mileage and Andrew Michael-Sector) each got 25,000 Asia Miles.
Of course, as many of the guests came in colorful Hawaiian attire, the evening would not be complete without an award for best in Hawaiian costume. These went to Ms. Genelou Saw and Mr. Jean Michaut.
The award, a roundtrip ticket to Hong Kong each, was presented to them by General Manager Southeast Asia Patrick Yeung.
