JOY BERNALDEZ.
Twenty-five years in the fashion industry is reason enough to celebrate, and Joy will do just that in a two-fold, first-of-a-kind fashion and sale exhibit at the Atlantic ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel on December 2, 2005.
Twenty-two much sought-after Cebuano artists will showcase their own individual "masterpieces" on jusi gowns exquisitely designed and executed by Joy Bernaldez.
This undertaking hopes to impart the lady designer's belief in promoting the country's uniqueness and beauty through indigenous materials and local art and in her unlimited faith in the versatility of the fabric.
Joy Bernaldez' designs are innovative and pay tribute to our rich and vibrant Filipino traditions. The delicate yet easy to care jusi fabric has found new life in her creations. Her irresistible classic designs and the native materials from which they are made have taught us to appreciate the beauty that is purely our own, purely Filipino.
We salute Joy Bernaldez, a Cebuana, who has brought pride and distinction to our nation. She has successfully shown her craft in New York in 2004 and at the Philippine Center, 5th Avenue, this year.
This event will be special because it will benefit the many charitable programs of "clothes for life" that will enhance cultural development.
The participating artists who have given their time and shared their immeasurable talents are: Gabriel Abellana, brothers Antonio and Vidal Alcoseba.
