September 17, 2005 | 12:00am
There is a street dance festival going on this afternoon in the City of Danao. Its called Karanza Festival.
Taken from the word Karanza meaning "to (suddenly) jerk" as if in merry-making during a festive celebration, Karanza Festival utilizes free interpretation dancing with a Latin theme devoid of basic drumbeat and steps. The dances are offered in honor of Patron St. Thomas de Villanueva.
Witness five local participating schools compete for the title today at the city's Freedom Stage.
