Kristine Cebu's next big thing

Good news! A charming Cebuana has paved her way into the "Magic 5" of The Next Big Thing talent search. Organized by McDonald in collaboration with MTV Asia and Philippines and Vicor Music Corporation, this Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts graduate, major in Advertising Arts from USC-TC, still looks forward to practicing her course but her passion in singing inspires her to dream about a career in music entertainment. Hopefully, McDonald's The Next Big Thing talent search will be Kristine's ticket to stardom. Kristine Gonzaga Demeterio, 24, sings with the One In Him Band, regularly performing at Camp Z in Banilad, Mandaue City. At 19, she performed with Serendipity for one remarkable year.
Kristine's friend prodded her not to give up and advised her to record easy songs. "My friend was more excited than me. He kept on calling me and asking if I had recorded a song. I do not want to disappoint him because he has always been very supportive."
She may not be at her best in the demo she made and had second thoughts about her performance, but fate made everything possible for her. On her way to work, she received a call from The Next Big Thing organizer. "They called me up to inform me that I made it!" Kristine is the only talent from Visayas and Mindanao who made it to the magic 5. The other four finalists are from Luzon. She admitted that she was a little nervous when she knew about her success. "I do not have friends in Manila," she said. She added that she needs the support of the Cebuanos by voting for her because it always counts.
Last August 4, Kristine flew to Manila to join the rest of the lucky finalists. The five finalists will perform and vie for the plum prize in three mini-concerts within this month. The grand winner will receive a total cash prize of P250, 000.00, a singing contract with Vicor, and a live performance together with today's hot recording artists to be produced by MTV.
